More About Former Lieutenant Governor Ben Barnes

Former Lt. Gov. of Texas Ben Barnes is a superb Texas lobbyist. He was a vice-chair and top benefactor during the John Kerry campaign; he once raised $500,000 towards Kerry’s vote because Barnes saw it as a pivotal election. “There was a lot at stake,” said the Texan about that political race.

Ben Barnes has seen Texas in the best and worst of times and he insists for the state and community to strive to be better than what it is. As he recalled when people would ask him, the words would run, “Man, tell us about Texas. Y’all are really accomplishing a lot of great things. I really would like to live there.” Yet, there was a time when Texas was looked down upon; it was often associated with other prejudged states like Louisiana and Alabama. These are views that Barnes wanted changed.

Barnes served Texas as the state’s Lieutenant Governor from 1969 until 1973.

Former Lt. Gov. of Texas Ben Barnes is a Texan Democrat who is active in the party and supports it as much as he can. With roots deep in the Texan soil, he loves Texas and as proven by his devotion to the Kerry Campaign, is willing to forgo time and money to improve the state of Texas and the Democratic Party.
